Get Your Hands On The Wheel
Driving Is An Important Skill
Driving is an important skill we often take for granted. It gives us the freedom to do the things we love and the mobility we need to get to work and appointments, and to buy groceries. The ability to drive helps maintain our independence especially when you’re recovering from an injury or you’re getting older.
If you’ve had a stroke, you may need to have an Occupational Therapy (OT) Driving Assessment to determine if you’re medically fit to drive. If you’re an older person with a medical condition that can affect safe driving, you may be asked to get an OT Driving Assessment.
As a Driver Trained Occupational Therapist, I realise how daunting it can be to have to go through a driving assessment and the fear of losing your licence. I’ll take the time to chat you through what’s involved with an OT Driver Assessment to help you understand the fees and make an informed decision.
I’m Janet,
your Driver Trained Occupational Therapist
As an Occupational Therapist with 21 years’ experience, I’ve always had a passion for driving and helping people maintain their independence. Working with people who are recovering from stroke and older people gives me joy and drive (pardon the pun).
After being awarded my PhD, focusing my extensive research on returning to driving after a stroke, I decided to turn my passion into a career by completing post-graduate qualifications in Driver Assessments. My business is called Shifting Gears because my hope is to help you shift gears and gain more independence and freedom. Or you may be at a point in your life where you are shifting gears and I’d like to help you navigate this part of your journey.
